AR Engineering joined Nuway Construction at their second annual charity golf outing for The Post Youth Center of Goshen, Indiana on June 7th. We were excited to participate in the fun, and proud to support the center that provides a welcoming place for the youth of the community. The team consisted of Whitney Pizzala and Jason Raleigh of AR Engineering, and Tim Wall and John Skopec of Nuway Construction. We are looking forward to next year’s event!
Southwest MiSTEM - Growlers Game
A team from AR Engineering participated in Education Day at Homer Stryker Field, with Dustin Thornton, Rachel Knighton and Stephanie Putt arriving early to set-up for the day! Students from several local school districts arrived eager to explore various hands-on exhibits. They were very interested in the sandcastle building activity provided by AR Engineering, which demonstrated mechanically stabilized earth (MSE), and couldn’t wait to dig in! Students were encouraged to build a non-MSE sandcastle and an MSE sandcastle, and then drop the hammer on both to see the difference in strength provided by the fabric reinforcement. The morning activities wrapped up at 11 AM with everyone invited to attend the Growler’s game, where they beat the Battle Jacks 12-7.
Ferris State University Golf Outing
On May 5, 2023 AR Engineering supported the Burt and Mullet student chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) by sponsoring a hole and participating in the annual golf outing held at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan. The team consisted of AR Engineering Surveyor Dustin Thornton, Crew Chief Sam Kindermann, Ryan Brown from CopperRock Construction and John Kakoczki from Earley & Associates. The day started a bit brisk, with temps only in the mid 40’s but by the afternoon the weather was nice, three of the four team members were shooting pretty well, and we finished one under par and enjoyed a great day of golf!
2023 WMU Capstone Project
AR Engineering was proud to sponsor a WMU Civil Engineering Capstone Project for this spring semester. The students did a fantastic job with their presentation today. Their project taught them engineering fundamentals and professional skills that they’ll use as they enter the work force. Congratulations to Zach, Carlos, Chris, and Michel! ARE wishes you all the best in your next endeavors.
Project Management Bootcamp
Jason Raleigh, P.E. attended a Project Management event earlier this year in Lansing. The PSMJ training is a 2-day class focused on the A/E/C industry. One of the primary focuses is the importance of communication, both internal and with clients, as well as the management of the project team, navigating the post-COVID world, and the oversight of contracts and budgets. Jason was excited to attend this event and put what he learned into practice.
