Survey Crew Chief

 

AR Engineering is Growing!

We are seeking an experienced survey crew chief to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide complete boundary, location, control and topographic surveying as well as construction staking with the latest robotic and GPS equipment.  You will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be meticulous in your attention to detail, and possess a commitment to the success of your team and clients.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • All phases of field work including boundary and topographical surveys, construction layout, as-built surveys and utilization of a robotic total stations and GPS

  • Extensive fieldwork in all weather conditions and willingness to travel

  • Develop thorough and accurate field notes, survey reports and calculations

  • Download and checking raw field data

  • Manage quality control of all survey documents including point coordination, field notes, sketches, plans, etc.

  • Responsible for company vehicle and company-provided survey equipment

  • Responsible for company gas card, gas receipts and other related expenses

  • Routine maintenance of survey equipment

  • Communicate and follow directions from management

  • Foster and maintain strong client and contractor relationships while effectively communicating field staking requirements. Serve as a key liaison between field operations and Project Managers, providing timely updates and detailed reports on project progress, challenges, and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • 3-5 years’ experience performing property, topographic, and construction surveys

  • Must be able to lift minimum of 50 lbs

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well with others

  • AutoCAD experience preferred

  • Punctual and dependable

  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License required

Professional Surveyor

 

AR Engineering is Growing!

We are seeking a highly skilled and licensed Professional Land Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a “hands on” leader, responsible for survey-related activities and ensuring the successful execution of projects from start to finish.  You will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be meticulous in your attention to detail, and possess a commitment to the success of your team and clients.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with management of the survey department including staff, equipment and workload, providing professional and technological direction.

  • Develop proposals and estimates for land survey, topographic survey and construction staking clients.

  • Oversee and manage land surveying projects ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide excellent communication between clients, staff, and government agencies.

  • Perform survey field work, including site topographic survey, boundary survey and construction staking.

  • Prepare and review boundary and topographical surveys, ALTA/ACSM surveys, subdivision plans, and easement exhibits.

  • Create legal descriptions and manage survey projects to ensure timely and accurate completion.

  • Maintain quality control measures to verify survey data accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide guidance on current and emerging surveying technologies and methods.

Required Education, Licenses and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics or equivalent

  • Registration as Professional Surveyor in the State of Michigan
